North American Hockey Academy Captain Annie Pankowski was named the 2013 JWHL Elizabeth 'Liz' Turgeon Player of the Year at the league banquet held at the Ralph Engelstad Arena Heritage Room in Grand Forks, ND.  The award is given annually to a player who embodies the values that Liz Turgeon represented, including: a positive attitude, incomparable work ethic, fiercely competitive, selfless, and who makes an invaluable contribution to her team.

This season, Annie was the leading scorer in the JWHL with 54 goals and 39 assists for 93 points through 27 games.  She finished the season with 104 goals and 81 assists for 185 points through 78 total games played this season for The Winter-Hawks.

Liz Turgeon played in the JWHL for the Colorado Select prior to her college career which took her to The University of Minnesota.  She was also a member of the US Under 18 National Team and was one of the top players at the U19 level in the US.  Liz tragically passed away in Decmeber, 2010 and shortly thereafter in 2011, the JWHL named it's annual Player of the Year award in Liz's honor.
