Sunday brought an end to a tremendous weekend of hockey at the MTS Iceplex with your Varsity Prep Blazers playing host to the entire JWHL league with both the Eastern and Western conferences in town for the remaining inter-divisional weekend to round out the regular season. With the hometown crowd behind them, the Blazers were able to pick up wins in their first three games before playing a hot National Sports Academy team on Saturday evening, losing 3 - 1.

In their 5th game of the weekend and final regular season game for the 2010 - 2011 season, the Varsity Prep Blazers took on the undefeated NAHA Winter-hawks in a very faced pace and entertaining game. The Blazers would jump out to a 1 - 0 lead by the end of the first period and would add to the lead with a power play marker, to go into the third period with a 2 - 0 advantage. At the start of the third period the swift skating Winter-Hawks would find the back of the net to pull within one and during a third period flurry of penalties, the Blazers would kill off a 5v3 disadvantage involving a 5 minute major. As the minutes counted down, the Blazers moved closer to a historic event in Blazer hockey history, and with the final buzzer it was final, BLAZERS 2 vs NAHA 1. The Blazers handed NAHA their first loss during league play this season.

With a 4 - 1 record this past weekend, the Blazers jump to 2nd place in the JWHL western conference, and a 4th overall placing. They finish with a league record of: 27 GP, 13 W, 10 L, 4 T; for 30 points overall. The next time the league will reconvene will be in Madison, Wisconsin for the JWHL Playoffs, as the Varsity Prep Blazers look to carry this momentum into March and look towards it's first JWHL league championship.
