The Junior Women’s Hockey League is pleased to announce that the 3rd annual JWHL Challenge Cup will once again be held in the Washington, DC area from February 12-15, 2010.

The JWHL is comprised of teams from across the US and Canada who have come together to provide a venue for committed student-athletes to reach their potential on and off the ice.

The JWHL Challenge Cup is regarded by scouts and teams as one of the most exciting hockey events of the season! This year, we are pleased to announce that the Prep Division field will expand to 16 teams, and the Red Division (U17) will have a 10 team field.

The NHL Washington Capitals will once again participate as the presenting sponsor, with Prep Division games to be played at the The Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, VA. Red Division games will be played at the Rockville Arena, home of The Washington Pride.

Format: All teams are guaranteed 5 full-length games (3 twenty minute periods with ice cut). The top 2 teams after the Semi-Final round will play for the Championship. All teams are guaranteed 5 games (17 minute periods). There will be 6 JWHL teams and 4 visiting teams.
Fee: 1700 1600

Location:   Arlington, VA. Arlington sits across the Potomac River from many of the most historic sites in Washington DC. Rockville, Maryland is 20 minutes from Downtown DC and near many historic sites in Nations Capital.
Getting there: Three major airports serve Arlington: Reagan National (DCA), Dulles International (IAD), and Baltimore-Washington International (BWI). DCA is a short metro ride or a 10-minute drive to the Kettler Capitals Iceplex. Hotel:  PREP Division teams must stay at the Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel: $115/night (breakfast not included). The Westin is located directly across the street from Kettler Iceplex and surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars, and is on the Metro line. RED Division teams must stay at one of the tournament hotels listed below (just click to go directly to the tournament reservation page):

College Scouts should also book their rooms at the Westin at the JWHL rate. Courtyard Marriott - Rate $79/night (includes breakfast for 2)
